Discover La Terraza

Walking into La Terraza, you're immediately embraced by the warm, rustic charm that mirrors the beauty of Mérida itself. The open-air terrace allows diners to enjoy the perfect balance of comfort and nature, with a view of the bustling street life below. This spot is an ideal venue whether you're looking for a romantic evening, a family gathering, or simply a place to savor delicious food while soaking in the local atmosphere.

The restaurant's menu features a range of dishes that showcase the best of Yucatecan cuisine. Highlights include the signature cochinita pibil, a slow-cooked pork dish marinated in achiote and wrapped in banana leaves, offering a smoky and tangy depth of flavor. Another standout is panuchos, a traditional Yucatecan dish made of crispy tortillas stuffed with refried black beans and topped with seasoned meats, pickled red onions, and salsa.

For seafood lovers, the ceviche de pescado is a must-try. Fresh fish marinated in lime juice, mixed with cilantro, tomato, and onion, delivers a refreshing yet bold taste. And if you're in the mood for something sweet, the mérida-style flan provides a perfect ending to the meal with its creamy texture and subtle caramel sweetness.

The restaurant’s drink menu is just as impressive, with a variety of refreshing cocktails that complement the warm weather and lively environment. The Margarita is a popular choice, with a tangy kick of lime that pairs perfectly with any meal. For those seeking something truly local, Xtabentún, a traditional Mayan liqueur made from honey and anise, offers a unique taste of the region.

What sets La Terraza apart from other restaurants in Mérida is not just the food but the overall experience. The staff provides impeccable service, ensuring that every guest feels at home. The casual, yet elegant setting invites guests to relax and enjoy their meals at their own pace. Whether you’re seated inside or enjoying the fresh air on the terrace, La Terraza provides a space that feels both lively and intimate.

For those visiting La Terraza, it's worth noting that reservations are recommended, especially during the evenings and weekends when the restaurant tends to fill up quickly. This is a popular destination for both locals who return time and again for the great food and tourists seeking a taste of Mérida’s culinary heritage.

In conclusion, La Terraza offers a memorable dining experience that captures the essence of Mérida. From its delicious Yucatecan cuisine to its vibrant atmosphere, it’s a place that guarantees great food, great drinks, and great company. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this restaurant should undoubtedly be on your list when exploring the flavors of Mérida.

  • Wow! So delicious! We had the Cafta, cubi frito, berenjena rellena, garbanzo jini, efftoyer de acelgas. A co-owner was assisting us. He seems to have control of the menu because he told us he created one of the menu items. The restaurant has been in his family for 50 years. His sister assists with some aspects of the business including the social media presence. The service is impeccable and speed at which the food come to the table is amazing fast. The food is flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere inside is very basic and stale but the energy of the staff and overall experience overshadow this small detail. One advice to sis: put more photos online with the names of the dishes. It was great the server had pics of the food on his personal phone but pics online would be more enticing.

  • Yummy spot for brunch, but confused as there was very little that was Middle Eastern on the menu...still the food was delicious and fresh and service was excellent.

  • One of the most quirkiest places of Merida but nonetheless amazing. No restaurant sign, no frills, no windows; it's like walking into a canteen. But the staff and the experience of it all, juices served in filled plastic little bottles, the food in typical food plates with compartments for each type of food; everything is quirky which makes it an adorable place.

  • It's not the most elegant of places, but the food is excellent and the service is alright even though there was only one waiter. Definitely worth visiting for a deliciously tasty Lebanese meal.

  • We absolutely loved this place. We ordered randomly not quite knowing what it was and everything was very tasty. Xix-Bhara, Crema de Chile Xcatic, Kibi Crudo, Arrollados de Parra - all amazing!

  • I loved this place! They have authentic Lebanese food. And they have Xixbarak! There's only a handfull of Lebanese restaurants that I've been able to find offering Xixbarak. So, needless to say I was in cloud 9 when I saw it on their menu. And all the flavors for every dish we had was on spot! Piece of advise, try to go early, because they do run out of dishes to offer.

  • Kind of a weird spot, but it was one of the only things open in the late afternoon on a weekend. Really no ambiance to the seating area, but the food is quite good. The Spanish translations of Lebanese dishes can be rough to get through, but try your best and consult some of the other reviews with guidance.
